About the Lab

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 #𝟏 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 Darcy Mayfield is a Culture Architect and Top 50 Future of Work Thought Leader who helps governments and communities design for belonging. With a background in hospitality and experience design at Airbnb and Stripe, her work now focuses on what happens after attraction: how cities help people feel rooted, connected, and cared for. She specializes in the “architecture of belonging,” using positive psychology and intentional design to bridge the gap between arrival and staying. Based in Portugal, she understands firsthand the "wiggly space" between moving to a new place and truly finding your tribe. This Lunch Lab will be a moderated, device-free 90-minute window designed to shift your perspective. You’ll leave with clarity, warmth, and a practical next step toward deeper belonging in your life in Portugal. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞: 12:30 | Arrival & Grounding Introduction. Insights on the "wiggly space" between arrival and belonging. Settle into groups of 4 for a gentle opening to the day’s theme. 12:45 | First Course: Remembering Belonging Dive into the anatomy of belonging. You’ll be invited to look back at the moments that shaped you, identifying the hidden ingredients that make a space feel like "yours". 13:15 | Main: The Shape of Belonging Shift inwards. Explore the unique conditions you personally need to thrive and how to bring your most authentic self to the table. 13:45 | Coffee & Dessert: Choosing Belonging Wrap up the experience by turning reflection into agency. A final creative exercise, to define what belonging looks like for you right now and walk away with a clear, simple intention to deepen your community ties this week.
